The Top 10 Life-Changing New Products For 2015

“What’s new is the most-asked question every year at the Show,” DeSantis noted. In 2015, a major new annual feature makes its debut appearance: The 2015 Top 10 Life-Changing New Products. These are significant new product developments for both the home and garden, selected and presented live at the Show each day by author and renowned home expert Boyce Thompson - former seventeen-year Editor of the leading industry publication Builder Magazine. The featured new products for 2015 include cutting-edge breakthroughs such as disappearing walls of windows and a faucet that operates with the wave of a hand. Thompson, author of “The New, New Home” and frequent national speaker on home topics, will be at the Show all ten days to demonstrate and explain the Life-Changing New Products at the New Products Stage.

The Giant Redwood Log Home and the Pennsylvania Forest Garden

The majestic giant redwood trees of northern California are miracles of nature. In 1939, before these largest and oldest living things were protected by law, a redwood pioneer focused on the felled trunk of one such tree - transforming it into a 12 foot tall, 40 foot long home. Home & Garden Show visitors will tour this one-of-a-kind home, seeing the interior cabinetry and furnishings crafted with wood removed from the hollowed out 1900-year-old tree. As Pittsburghers are welcome to walk through the Log House itself, they also will enjoy strolling through the Pennsylvania Forest Garden, imagined and grown by the Bidwell Training Center horticultural staff and students to explain the extraordinary living heritage of our own State's forests. This large living garden area highlights nearly a century of conservation and care for trees and forests, and includes a hands-on Children's Activity zone where families can learn about trees and our environment at home as well.
